Lagerfeld Living

Stephanie Davis Smith

Although The Estates at Acqualina — the new $1.5 billion twin towers with 245 luxury residences in tony Sunny Isles, Fla.— is scheduled to open its doors in 2020, design maestro Karl Lagerfeld has already completed plans for its dueling avant-garde open-air lobbies. The condominium project is the first of its kind in the country to receive the deft touch of the icon in the black gloves. Upon entrance, residents and their guests will be greeted by aquamarine mosaic rugs inspired by the beachfront setting, hammered metal floors, ornate water fountains surrounded by flowers, drippy crystal chandeliers and half-moon oversize gray sofas. “I wanted something fresh and silvery,” says Lagerfeld of the enterprise. So why take this on at this stage in his career? “It’s interesting for me to make a modern overscale project.”

From $4-$9 million, penthouse and single-family home prices upon request, 17895 Collins Ave.
